Kort overordnet beskrivelse

Projektet er placeret i Flygtningelejren/bosættelsen – Nakivale i Uganda. Projektet varetages af “New Talents for the Future”, der er en lokal organisation af frivillige unge flygtninge, der driver et gratis skoleprojekt for børn hjemmehørende i lejren. SUGnord er samarbejdspartner i projektet, og vores rolle er, at vi skal stå for økonomisk kontrol og monitorering af projektet.

Projektet er en forbedring og udvidelse af det nuværende skoletilbud. Og omfatter udvidelse af skolens undervisningsprogram samt etablering af en permkultur have i tilknytning til skolen. Det skal fremhæves, at projektet specielt har fokus på etablering af en permakultur have, hvilket giver børnene praktisk viden om bæredygtig fødevareproduktion. Samtidig giver de dyrkede afgrøder skolen mulighed for at tilbyde børnene gratis sunde måltider.

Formål

Overordnet handler projektet om at investere i bæredygtig uddannelse, forbedre sundhed og styrke lokalsamfundet i en situation, hvor flygtningene står med usikre fremtidsmuligheder og oplever nedskæringer i den økonomiske støtte

Målgruppe

Ca. 100 børn fra flygtningelejren, der får gratis undervisning på skolen

Aktiviteter

Projektet har to aspekter

For det første et ønske om at udvide skoleprogrammet med undervisning i tre nye fag: 1.havebrug og permakultur 2.musik og 3. frisørfaget

For det andet et ønske om at forbedre faciliteterne og lokalerne på skolen, der kan understøtte undervisningen. Er skal bygges et nyt bibliotek og musiklokale ved hjælp af frivillige fra flygtningelejren. Etableringen af en permakulturhave.

Brief general description

The project is located in the Refugee Camp/Settlement – Nakivale in Uganda. The project is run by “New Talents for the Future”, a local organization of volunteer young refugees who run a free school project for children residing in the camp. SUGnord is a partner in the project, and our role is to be responsible for financial control and monitoring of the project.

The project is an improvement and expansion of the current school offering. It includes expanding the school’s teaching program and establishing a permaculture garden in connection with the school. It should be emphasized that the project specifically focuses on establishing a permaculture garden, which gives the children practical knowledge about sustainable food production. At the same time, the cultivated crops allow the school to offer the children free healthy meals.

Start and end date

February to October 2025 (9 months duration).

Objectives

Overall, the project is about investing in sustainable education, improving health and strengthening the local community in a situation where refugees face uncertain future prospects and experience cuts in financial support.

Target group

Approximately 100 children from the refugee camp who receive free education at the school

Activities

The project has two aspects

Firstly, a desire to expand the school program with teaching in three new subjects: 1.Ggardening and permaculture 2.Music and 3.Hairdressing

Secondly, a desire to improve the facilities and premises at the school that can support teaching. A new library and music room are to be built with the help of volunteers from the refugee camp. Establishment of a permaculture garden.
